Five from WSU Honored on Pac-10 Cross Country All-Academic Teams

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Five student-athletes from the Washington State
University cross country teams were named to Pac-10 All-Academic teams.
Senior Kim Schmolka from Port Orchard, Wash., was the only first team
selection for the Cougars. Schmolka carries a 3.74 GPA in social studies
education.
Megan Maynard, a sophomore from Langley, Wash., earned second team
recognition. Maynard finished 22nd in the NCAA Championships Nov. 22,
earning All-America honors. She has a 3.78 GPA but has yet to declare a
major area of study at WSU.
Three Cougs made the honorable mention teams. For the men, Eric Allwine, a
sophomore from Richland, with 3.25 GPA, and Justin Murray, a sophomore from
Lakewood, Wash., were selected. Both have undeclared majors. From the
women's team, sophomore Lisa Schaures from Castle Rock, Wash., was honored
for her 3.57 GPA in Communications-Public Relations.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade
point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. The
first and second teams have seven each while honorable mention are unlimited.
