Jepkorir Earns All-America, Longisa Cruises to 1500m Finals

EUGENE, Ore. – Washington State sophomore runners Rosemary Longisa and Caroline Jepkorir completed semifinal competition at the 2026 NCAA Division-I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Thursday evening, at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. Longisa claimed the fastest time of the women's 1,500-meter semifinals and earned a spot in Saturday's final. Jepkorir concluded her season with NCAA All-America Honorable Mention in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

In her first outdoor national championships, Longisa took to the track in the opening heat of the 1,500-meter semifinal, entering as the country's fastest qualifier and the second-fastest all-time mark in NCAA history. The Kenyan cruised to a 4:06.41 first-place time and will compete for a national championship in Saturday's final at 5:24 p.m.

Jepkorir followed with her run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking a time of 10:08.78. The sophomore punched her ticket to Eugene for the first time, finishing 20th overall to earn her NCAA All-America Honorable Mention. Jepkorir became the first Cougar women's runner to earn national outdoor honors in the steeplechase and the eighth All-American under Head Coach Wayne Phipps tenure.

The Cougars will participate in the final two days of the championships with Evans Kurui running the men's 5,000-meter final Friday, June 12, at 6:55 p.m. Longisa will run in the 1,500-meter final Saturday, June 13, at 5:12 p.m. Both remaining days of the NCAA Championships will be televised on ESPN2.
