TACOMA, Wash. – Washington State women’s golf closed out the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational with its best round of the tournament Tuesday, firing a 3-under 285 to finish tied for second at Tacoma Country and Golf Club.
The Cougars finished the 3-round tournament at 6-over, tying Grand Canyon for second place, their top finish of the fall season. WSU improved each round, following an opening-round 7-over performance with a 2-over second round before closing with a 3-under final round.
Melia Cerenzia earned WSU’s best finish, placing ninth at even par. Cerenzia fired a 1-under 71 in the final round, recording five birdies, including three over her final seven holes.
Sydney Bisgrove finished just behind Cerenzia, carding a 3 under 69 to finish tied for 10th at 1-over for the tournament. Bisgrove recorded five birdies Tuesday, including three on the front nine.
Madalyn Gubernick finished tied for 17th at 3-over after shooting an even-par 72 Tuesday. Gubernick collected four birdies during the final round, including one on the par-3.
Kaitlyn Helm rounded out the Cougars’ scoring lineup, carding a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 21st at 4-over. Helm recorded a pair of birdies on the back nine, including one on the par-3 17th. Grace Rubelsky finished tied for 71st at 16-over after shooting a 76 in the final round.
Competing as individuals, Sara Pineros tied for 21st at 4-over after a final round 73, while Anya Cedo tied for 75th at 17-over after also carding a 76.
Washington State’s 3-under final round was its lowest of the tournament and helped the Cougars climb three spots on the leaderboard to secure a share of second place.
