PULLMAN, Wash. (Jan. 6, 2026) – Washington State University Head Football Coach
Kirby Moore Tuesday announced six more additions to his first coaching staff in Pullman.
Joining the Cougar program will be
Andrew Seumalo (assistant defensive line coach),
Joshua Taufalele (assistant offensive line coach),
Peyton Yanagi (assistant special teams coach),
Alton Julian (defensive graduate assistant),
Braden Swank (defensive graduate assistant) and
Kainon Clark (associate director of football athletic performance).
Below are brief overviews for the new staff members:
Andrew Seumalo – Assistant Defensive Line Coach: Has spent the past eight seasons at Lafayette College, working with defensive line, linebackers, and serving as recruiting coordinator…prior to that, spent the 2017 season as a defensive graduate assistant under Mike Riley at Nebraska…has also worked at Arizona State and his alma mater, Oregon State…was a four-year letterwinner at Oregon State and served as team captain…father, Joe, is the defensive line coach at Arizona and brother, Isaac, plays offensive line for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Joshua Taufalele – Assistant Offensive Line: Coached offensive line at Montana State from 2017-19, adding recruiting coordinator title in 2018…has spent past six seasons at Boise State in an off-field position, most recently as associate director of extended studies…has coached at Football College (Calif.) and was offensive line graduate assistant at Washington in 2024 and 2015, working alongside then offensive graduate assistant
Kirby Moore in 2015.
Peyton Yanagi – Assistant Special Teams: Has spent the past two seasons as a special teams quality control assistant at Army West Point…served as special teams coordinator at Nevada during 2023 season as part of former WSU linebackers coach Ken Wilson's staff…was a long snapper at Oregon from 2018-22.
Alton Julian – Defensive Graduate Assistant: Spent the 2025 seasons coaching cornerbacks at Eastern Oregon University…was a defensive back at Oregon State from 2020-24, seeing action in 22 games, totaling 56 tackles and earning Pro Football Focus Second-Team All-Pac-12 honors in 2021.
Braden Swank – Defensive Graduate Assistant: Arrives in Pullman after spending the 2024 season at his alma mater, Montana Western, as an assistant linebackers coach…graduated from Montana Western following the 2024 season, where he ended his playing career by earning Second-Team All-Frontier West Conference honors.
Kainon Clark – Associate Director of Football Athletic Performance: Arrives in Pullman after spending previous five seasons at Western Kentucky as associate director of strength and conditioning…also worked at Central Arkansas and served strength and conditioning internships for Notre Dame and Arkansas State football.
