Cougars Finish Third at WCC Championships

GOLD RIVER, Calif. (May 17, 2025) – Washington State women's rowing capped off the 2025 WCC Championships with top-3 finishes in each of the four Grand Finals races Sunday morning to finish third overall among the nine competing teams.

"The Cougs fought hard today, I'm proud of how far they have come this year," said Head Coach Jane LaRiviere. "Congratulations to Oregon State and Gonzaga, they were the stronger teams."

Oregon State won the 2025 WCC Championships with a total of 54 points, followed by Gonzaga in second (47) and WSU in third (43).

The Cougs started the day with the V4 races, placing second in both the 1V4 and 2V4. WSU finished with a time of 7:40.79 in the 1V4 to place second behind only Oregon State (7:36.63) while Gonzaga finished in third (7:43.75). The top three places were the same in the 2V4 with Oregon State in first (7:51.97), WSU in second (7:58.19) and Gonzaga in third (8:08.43).

Wazzu rounded out the day with third place finishes in the 1V8 and 2V8. The Cougar 1V8 crossed in a time of 6:47.82 behind Oregon State (6:36.16) and Gonzaga (6:45.78) while the team's 2V8 shell finished in 6:58.78 behind first-place Oregon State (6:46.16) and second-place Gonzaga (6:55.69).
