GOLD RIVER, Calif. (October 26, 2025) – The Washington State women's rowing team continued its strong start to the 2025-26 season with a pair of top-3 finishes at the Head of the American on Saturday morning.

"It was a productive weekend for the Cougs," said Head Coach Jane LaRiviere. "Several of our pairs improved from last week and a few pairs had to deal with some adversity, and they kept pressing. It was good to come back later in the day with solid races in the big boats. I'm looking forward to Head of the Lake in Seattle next weekend."

WSU's day was highlighted by the Women's Collegiate Eight race that saw the 1V8 shell place third in a time of 17:35.2 behind only the Southern California 1V8 (17:29.0) and the Oregon State 1V8 (17:31.7). USC's 2V8 and 3V8 finished fourth and fifth, followed by the Cougar 2V8 in sixth (18:03.4).

In the Women's Collegiate Four, the Cougars also placed third (20:48.2) behind the Southern California 1V4 (20:17.2) and the Oregon State 2V4 (20:37.3).

The Cougars also ran eight boats in the pairs event, and saw the D pair finish ninth (21:45.0), the E in 16th (22:10.0), G in 17th (22:11), A in 19th (22:12.0), B in 23rd (22:25.1), F in 24th (22:32.6), H in 25th (22:35.5) and C in 31st (23:21.0).
