GOLD RIVER, Calif. (May 16, 2025) – Washington State women's rowing had a stellar day on the water Friday morning, placing first in each the 2V4 and 2V8, while finishing second in the 1V8 and third in the 1V4.
"The Cougs raced well today," said Head Coach 
Jane LaRiviere. "There were a lot of really close times and it should be very exciting tomorrow."
WSU opened the championship event with a big win in the 2V4, crossing first in a time of 7:35.74 ahead of Oregon State (7:36.07) and Gonzaga (7:46.38) in the 8-team field.
Next was the 1V4, in which the Cougars placed third with a time of 7:37.94 behind first-place Oregon State (7:27.45) and second-place Gonzaga (7:36.04).
The Cougs earned gold again in the 2V8, this time in a time of 6:45.12, just beating second-place Oregon State (6:45.15) by .03 seconds. Gonzaga finished third in a time of 6:45.66.
Day one of racing concluded with another strong finish from WSU in the 1V8, finishing in second place with a time of 6:36.60 right behind the winning Gonzaga shell (6:34.34). Oregon State trailed closely in third with a time of 6:36.93.
