SILVER LAKE, Wash. (April 19, 2025) – The Washington State women's rowing team won the 2V4 race in Saturday's 33rd edition of the Fawley Cup against Gonzaga.

The Cougars won the 2V4, crossing the finish line in 7:40.40, two seconds ahead of Gonzaga (7:42.40). The 1V8 race resulted in a close battle for the Fawley Cup, but Gonzaga had the faster boat with a 6:35.75 finish, followed by WSU in 6:41.12.
The day opened with the Open Eight "A" race, as the Cougars saw their 3V8A place third in 7:36.81 and the 4V8 finish fourth in 8:06.84.
WSU finished second in the 1V4 in 7:42.77, and then also in the 2V8 in 6:51.29. Next was the 3V4 which saw Gonzaga finish first in a time of 8:07.67 before WSU crossed in 8:25.24.
The day concluded with the Open Eight "B" race as the WSU 3V8B shell placed third in a time of 8:03.06 behind the Gonzaga 5V8 (7:18.94) and 4V8 (7:26.38).

About The Fawley Cup
The Cougars and the Bulldogs will once again be racing for the Fawley Cup. The cup has been handed out annually since 1991, except for 2008, to the winner of the First Varsity Eight race between WSU and GU. The Cougs have won 29 of the 32 Fawley Cup races since its inception.

The Cougars have their final tune up next weekend before conference championships in May at the Lake Wheeler Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26.
