Rowing Concludes at San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 30, 2025) – The Washington State women's rowing team advanced to Sunday's finals in all four events they raced in, highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the Varsity 8+ race Saturday morning at the San Diego Crew Classic.

The Cougars started strong in the women's collegiate varsity eight as the 1V8 placed fourth with a time of 6:36.75 behind only No. 1 Texas (6:19.31), No. 5 Washington (6:20.14) and No. 8 California-Berkeley (6:24.99). WSU finished ahead of No. 23 Southern California (6:38.75) and No. 20 Notre Dame (6:41.95) by several seconds.

WSU next placed seventh in the women's collegiate varsity four in a time of 7:41.30. Washington won the event in 7:06.15, followed by Texas (7:07.21) in second and California-Berkeley (7:21.32) inf third.

Wazzu also placed seventh in the women's collegiate 2V 8+ in 6:57.77 with Texas (6:29.74), Washington (6:31.34) and California-Berkeley (6:36.34) finishing 1-2-3.

In their final event of the weekend, the women's collegiate B 4+, the Cougars came in sixth place with a time of 7:59.67 ahead of Notre Dame (8:01.57) and San Diego (8:14.68). Leading the pack was Washington with boats in first (7:27.54) and second (7:31.24), and UCLA in third (7:44.66).

UP NEXT
The Cougars return home to host Oregon State next Saturday, April 5 for this year's edition of the Winchell Cup on the Snake River at Wawawai Landing. The event is tentatively scheduled to start at 9 a.m. but is subject to change due to weather and wind forecasts.
