SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 29, 2025) – The Washington State women's rowing team advanced to Sunday's finals in all four events they raced in, highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the Varsity 8+ race Saturday morning at the San Diego Crew Classic.

The Cougars opened the day in the first heat of the women's collegiate varsity eight as the 1V8 raced with some of the top boats in the nation. WSU placed third in the heat in a time of 6:30.23 behind the number one ranked team in the nation, Texas (6:14.74) and only a half second behind No. 23 Southern California (6:29.75).
The Cougar 1V8 placed fifth overall in the event, finishing ahead of No. 20 Notre Dame (6:36.98), easily sliding into the top eight to qualify for Sunday's final at 9:30 a.m.
In the women's collegiate Varsity 4+, the Cougars pushed off in the second heat, placing fourth in 7:40.83 before later also placing fourth in the first heat of the 2V 8+ (7:00.74), finishing seventh overall in each event.
The Cougs wrapped up their day in the opening heat of the Women's Collegiate B 4+ where they placed fourth in 7:50.07 and placed seventh overall on the day.
Washington State looks ahead to Sunday for finals racing, starting with the Varsity 8+ race at 9:30 a.m., then followed by the Varsity 4+ at 10:14 a.m., the 2V 8+ at 10:22 a.m. and the B 4+ at 11:50 a.m.

UP NEXT
The Cougars are back in the water for finals tomorrow before returning home to host Oregon State next Saturday, April 5 for this year's edition of the Winchell Cup on the Snake River at Wawawai Landing. The event is tentatively scheduled to start at 9 a.m. but is subject to change due to weather and wind forecasts.
