SEATTLE, Wash. / SPOKANE, Wash. / ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — In her first meet as a Cougar, freshman
Rosemary Longisa broke a 10-year-old school record for the Women's Indoor Mile while WSU athletes secured three wins across the three meets Saturday. Additionally, 15 WSU student-athletes recorded personal bests in their respective events.

In her debut meet, Longisa didn't hold back as she raced across the finish line in 4 minutes, 41.93 seconds to win her heat. Longisa's time was nearly two seconds faster than the previous record, set by Abby Regan nearly 10 years ago in Seattle when she crossed the line in 4:43.71. In the same event, sophomore
Zenah Cheptoo also broke the previous Mile record as she finished in a time of 4:43.31, the second-fastest time in program history.

In the Men's Mile, all four WSU athletes,
Evans Kurui (4:03.84),
Kelvin Limo (4:08.73), Josphat Meli (4:08.81) and
Evan Bruce (4:14.41) finished with personal-best times in the event, with Kurui finishing 23rd to lead WSU.

Riley Pyeatt set a personal best 800-meter time of 2:12.79 to finish 21st in a highly-competitive field, while in the Men's 800,
Alec Barran also set a personal best time of 1:53.60, finishing just outside of the top-20.

Alexandra Gustavel captured her flight and placed fifth overall in the Women's High Jump with a height of 1.69 meters (5' 6½"), a personal best for the freshman.

Mason Mahacek competed in the Heptathlon, in which he placed second with a score of 5490 points. Mahacek won the high jump event and finished second in three other events.

NEW MEXICO TEAM OPEN
Junior
Parker Duskin highlighted the Cougs in Albuquerque, putting up the seventh-fastest 60-meter hurdles time in WSU history, crossing the line in 7.77 seconds to finish fourth overall. The mark moved Duskin into seventh on WSU's all-time list.

In the men's 4x400 relay, the Cougar relay team of
Eysias Banks,
Ethan Willems,
Royal Haley and
Grant Buckmiller finished second overall with a time of 3:08.08, lowering their PR time by nearly a second set last month in Spokane.

The women's 4x400 relay team of
Lahela Ray,
Brooke Lyons,
Zoe Ray, Lashanna Graham finished third overall with a time of 3:38.33, the second-fastest mark in program history.

INLAND NORTHWEST INVITATIONAL
Ashley Hollenbeck Willems won the 60-meter dash at the Podium in Spokane, in a personal-best time of 7.55 seconds. This was after she also broke her previous personal best during the preliminary race with a time of 7.58 seconds. Hollenbeck Willems also won the 200-meter event while setting a personal-best time of 24.66 seconds. These are her first two wins of the indoor season for Hollenbeck Willems.

Freshman
Keenan Kuntz impressed in the Men's 60-meter dash, winning by two-hundredths of a second with a time of 6.83 seconds. In the semis, Kuntz broke his personal best 60-meter time in 6.80 seconds.
Milan Cieslak (6.88) also impressed in the event, qualifying for the final with Kuntz while setting a personal best in the semis as well.

The Cougars will head back to Spokane for the Riverfront Invitational located at the Podium from February 6th – February 8th.
