PULLMAN, Wash. (January 31, 2023) – Washington State Head Football Coach
Jake Dickert announced Tuesday that the Cougar Football coaching and support staffs have been finalized.
"I am excited to announce our 2023 football and support staffs and proud of the men and women that will be mentoring the young men in our program," said Dickert. "I look forward to developing a connected staff to build the foundation of championship football here at WSU. The new staff members fit well with the culture that already exists within our program and I can't wait to see the benefits of everyone's work on and off the field."
On the offensive side, the full-time coaches were recently announced, including
Ben Arbuckle (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks),
Mark Atuaia (associate head coach/running backs),
Nick Edwards (wide receivers),
Clay McGuire (offensive line) and
Nick Whitworth (tight ends/special team).
Returning on the offensive side of the ball are special assistant to the
Justin Kramer (head coach/assistant offensive line),
Justin Mesa (offensive analyst) and
Luke Hyde (graduate assistant). New this season are John Kuceyeski (quality control assistant) and Colt Garrett (graduate assistant).
On the other side of the ball, first-year defensive coordinator/linebackers coach
Jeff Schmedding leads a group that includes returning coaches
Pete Kaligis (assistant head coach/defensive tackles),
Ray Brown (cornerbacks),
Jordan Malone (safeties/nickels), along with first-year edges coach
Frank Maile.
Also on the defensive half are four newcomers, including Pullman native J.C. Sherritt (defensive analyst), former Cougars Danny McDonald (defensive quality control) and George Hicks III (graduate assistant), along with Patrick Belony (graduate assistant).
Returning for his fourth season is
Dan Ferrigno, who serves in a special teams quality control role for the second-straight year.
Returning for his second season as football chief of staff is
Brent Vernon while
Ashley Watkins has been elevated to director of football operations.
In the recruiting unit, general manager
Rob Schlaeger leads a group that includes
Stacey Ford (director of recruiting),
Taylor Lee (director of on-campus recruiting),
Parker Cundiff (lead scout), Joel Diaz-Romero (offensive high school scout) and returning to WSU is recent graduate and football great Jihad Woods as a defensive high school scout and alumni relations.
In the football creative and video units,
Olivia Vea (video coordinator) and
TJ Barr (assistant video coordinator) return as do co-creative director (video)
Carson Rorick and co-creative director (design)
Dallas Hobbs.
The Cougar Strength and Conditioning staff was recently announced, including head strength and conditioning coach
Ben Iannacchione along with assistants
D'Anthony Knight,
Jake Beckett,
Tristan White and
Jonathan Amosa.
