Indoor season back in full swing with meets in Seattle and Spokane this weekend

Washington State men's and women's track and field will split to compete in the Cougar Classic and UW Preview.
PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State men's and women's indoor track and field teams are ringing in the New Year by competing in two meets. The Cougars will host the Cougar Classic at The Podium in Spokane on Friday. The distance squad is making the trip to Seattle to race in UW Preview at the Dempsey Indoor Center on Saturday. Friday's field events are slated to begin at 9 a.m. while running events are set to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday's running events are scheduled to start at 8:45 a.m.Â

LAST TIME OUT -Â SPOKANE INVITATIONALÂ
The Cougars notched 25 personal bests at the Spokane Invitational, the first meet of the 2022-23 indoor season, back in December while tallying four event wins to open the season.
Daylon Hicks claimed first in the high jump with a season-best mark of 2.0m.  Ethan Willems won the men's 300 in a personal best time of 33.92 seconds while Elise Unruh-Thomas finished atop the podium in the women's 300 meter in 39.41 seconds.

Maribel Caicedo (8.29) won the 60m hurdles with the fourth-fastest time in program history and fourth in the NCAA this season and teammate Micaela De Mello (8.32) finished just .03 seconds off her pace to finish in second-place in their finals heat while clocking the fifth-fastest 60m hurdles in program history and sixth-fastest time in the NCAA this season.

The Cougar Classic will be made up of multiple conference foes in the Pac-12, Mountain West and Big Sky. The Cougars will face Fresno State, UNLV, University of Idaho, Montana State, Oregon, USC on Friday. A full list of entries can be found here.
