FINAL RESULTS
RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif – The Washington State women's golf team secured a hard-fought
fourth place finish at the 2020 Lamkin Invitational, hosted by San Diego State on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at The Farms Golf Course to close out the Cougars first tournament of the spring.
WSU ends its stay in California with a 3-2 loss to Central Arkansas in the Lamkin Invitational's third place match. The Cougars finished the tournament in fourth place out of the eight-team field.
Junior
Emily Baumgart won her second match of the tournament on Tuesday, by picking up a victory over against Central Arkansas' Camila Moreno. Baumgart dominated in her final round, as she took the lead after the first hole and never gave it back, as the junior won her match up two holes through the 18th.
Sophomore
Amy Chu also claimed her second victory at the Lamkin Invitational after her third-round face-off against UCA's Pim-orn Thitisup. Chu found herself battling back early, as she was down by one by the second hole of play. By the fourth hole, Chu had gained control of the lead and never conceded it back, winning by two holes through the 17th.
Freshman
Janine Surge battled hard against Gracen Blount; however, she fell just short, losing by one hole to bring her tournament record to 1-2. Freshman
Jiye Ham also had a tough battle with Elin Kumli in a match up that consisted of three lead changes, as she came up short to fall by two holes through the 17th. Lastly, senior
Marie Lund-Hansen went up early on Tania Nunez but ultimately fell by three holes through the 16th.
"It was great to get out and start competing as a team again this week" said Coach Kamimura. "There were a lot of good takeaways from the week to keep building on for the rest of the Spring."
