SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif – Senior Marie Lund-Hansen claimed her third top-25 finish of the 2019-20 season at the Bruin/Wave Invitational on Wednesday, Feb. 25, as she posted a score of 227 (+11) to finish the tournament in a tie for 21st to lead the way for the Washington State women's golf team.

Lund-Hansen picked up right where she left off Monday, as the senior fired in four birdies during the third round of play at the San Luis Obispo Country Club course. Lund-Hansen began her day by collecting a pair of birdies over the front nine of the course. She matched the feat once again during her back nine to help her post a third-round score of 2-over, 74 to tie for 21st on the player leaderboard.

"Marie had a great finish in a very competitive field" said head coach Kelli Kamimura. "I am so proud of the way she fought back after a tough first round. San Luis Obispo Golf Course is a challenging course and after a tough first round the team fought back in rounds two and three."

As a team, the Cougars ended the Bruin/Wave Invitational in 10th place in the 12-team tournament. Washington State posted a third-round score of 311 (+23) to help the Cougs end play at 935 (+71).

Six strokes behind Lund-Hansen was freshman Jiye Ham. After going 6-over in both of the two rounds on Monday, Ham fired in her best round of the week, making three birdies over her final 18 holes to end her day at 5-over, 77. The freshman finished play in 39th place overall with a total score of 233 (+17).

Sophomore Amy Chu finished up her third round, making a 9-over, 81. Overall, Chu place 49th on the player leaderboard, totaling a three-round score of 237 (+21). One stroke behind Chu was junior Emily Baumgart, who tied for 50th place, going 238 (+22) after posting a 7-over, 79 on Wednesday. Sophomre Darcy Habgood did not compete in the third round.

"Darcy has been battling a knee injury for the last four weeks and re-injured it after the practice round" said Kamimura. "She showed so much heart by trying to compete, and finished round one, but we decided that it wasn't in her or the teams best interest for her to compete in the second and third round."

Southern Cal claimed first place at the 11th annual Bruin /Wave Invitational with a score of 878 (+14), while Emma Spitz from UCLA and Kelly Sim from Northwestern tied for first place individually with a 211 (-5). For final results of the Bruin/Wave Invitational click here.
