SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif – Senior Marie Lund-Hansen made a team-high 1-over 73 in the second round of the Bruin/Wave Invitational to close out 36 holes of play for the Washington State women's golf team at the at the San Luis Obispo Country Club Monday.
After a ten-stroke improvement from the first round, the Cougars sit with the sole possession of 11th place, carding a 624 (+48), just four strokes behind 10th-place Pepperdine.
After carding an 8-over 80 in her first round, Lund-Hansen got into a rhythm the day's later round of play. The senior knocked in four birdies in the second round. Lund-Hansen ended her first day at the Bruin/Wave Invitational in a tie for 29th on the player leaderboard with a tournament score of 153 (+9) heading into the final round tomorrow.
Sophomore Amy Chu and freshman Jiye Ham are both tied for 39th after 36 holes, as both posted a score of 156 (+12). Junior Emily Baumgart is tied for 51st after two rounds of play by posting a 159 (+15). Darcy Habgood fired a 10-over 82 in the first-round score, and the sophomore did not compete in Monday's second round.
Southern Cal ended the first day of the Bruin/Wave Invitational atop the team leaderboard, as the Trojans posted a score of 582 (+2). Individually, Kelly Sims from Northwestern sits in first place on the player leaderboard with a 136 (-3).
The Final Round of the Bruin/Wave Invitational will take place Tuesday beginning at 7:30 am P.T. in a shotgun start format.
