STOCKTON, Calif. – Washington State freshman
Christian Yanagi remains in the top 10 following another solid round Tuesday during the second day of play at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational. As a team, the Cougars currently sit in 12th place in the 16-team field at The Reserve at Spanos Park.

"We had to work hard for it today, but we hung in there most of the round," said WSU Head Coach
Dustin White. "It just got away from us at the end. We need to stay in the present and give each shot our equal attention. We still have had more good than not this week. We'll get back at it tomorrow and finish the fall off on a good note."

After an opening-round 68 that put him in second place Monday, Yanagi continued his strong tournament with a two-over 74 in round two. He had a solid front nine and was one-over-par before an up-and-down back nine which included two birdies, a double bogey and a bogey. Yanagi currently leads the way for the Cougars at 142 (-2), tied for ninth with 18 holes left to play.

Four strokes behind Yanagi is senior
Nicklaus Chiam, who posted the best round of the day for WSU. Chiam found himself at even par after his first nine holes before sinking birdies on two of his final three holes to give him a score of 73 (+1) for the day. Chiam sits in a tie for 38th with a total score of 146 (+2). Senior
Daniel Kolar had three birdies on the day, en route to a 3-over, 75, giving him a two-day total of 151 (+7) and in a tie for 66th place. One stroke behind is freshman
Yuya Eguchi, who carded an 80 (+8) Tuesday and sits tied for 74th at 152 (+8). Â
Clayton Thatcher is in 86th place after a 79 (+7) on his second round for a two-day score of 157 (+13).

San Jose State continues to lead the tournament with a two-day score of 563 (-13), four strokes ahead of Brigham Young in second place. BYU had the best round of the day, finishing at 12-under for the round. Individually, Sean Yu of San Jose State remains in the top spot, following up Monday's 8-under 64 with a three-under 69 Tuesday. At -11, Yu holds a three-stroke lead over BYU's Rhett Rasmussen and Fresno State's Michael Cliff.

The final round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational will be a shotgun start Wednesday, with the Cougars teeing off at 9:24.
