Anderson and Armstrong Tied for 19th at Pac-12 Championships

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. - Senior Zach Anderson and junior A.J. Armstrong each tied for 19th place following the first two rounds of the men's 2018 Pac-12 Championships Monday in California. Following one another's lead, each scored a 72(+1) in the opening round, but both rallied back in the second, shaving off four strokes and scoring the Cougars' lowest rounds of 68(-3).

Armstrong went into the second round hot, putting up four birdies right out of the gate to go four-under in the front nine holes. Armstrong carded two more in the back nine for his fifth and sixth of the day, bringing his total to nine for the first two rounds.

Anderson had a strong performance in the front nine of the second round as well, putting himself in the red numbers early. He would go three-under on the front, before finishing off his round with an even-par, 36, on the back to add to his two round total of 140(-2). With their play, Anderson and Armstrong moved up 19 positions from their ranking following the first round to get into the top-20 after the opening day of play.

Senior Derek Bayley finished tied for 30th with an even-par, 142, for the two rounds of play. Bayley was at his best during the morning session of play with a 68(-3) in the first round to match Anderson and Armstrong's team low scores for the day. During the first round, Bayley came up with four birdies including dropping in birdie putts on three of the final four holes to close out.

Senior Brian Mogg scored one of five eagles in the tournament, recording a three on the par-five, 15th hole, in the first round. Mogg tallied a 73(+2) in both rounds, and sits tied for 55th with an overall of 146(+4)

The Cougars finished the two-round day in 10th place as a team, with a collective total of 715(+5). The team scored a 357(+2) I the opening round, and followed up with a 358(+3) in the second. No.23 USC currently leads the tournament with a total of 687(-23). USC also holds the individual lead after two-rounds as Justin Suh, the No. 2 ranked golfer in the country, it tied with Stanford's Jeffrey Swegle, at 10-under at the top of the standings.

The third round of the championships will begin at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday April 24, with the Cougs hitting the course at 10 a.m.
