STOCKTON, Calif. – Sophomore outfielder
Justin Harrer recorded three hits including a grand slam and drove in six runs for Washington State in a 14-8 defeat in a nonconference contest at Pacific Monday afternoon.

The Cougars dropped to 14-12 overall after leaving 10 men on base while the Tigers improved to 11-15 after collecting 17 hits. Harrer finished with a career-high six RBI for WSU, the most by a Cougar since Derek Jones drove in seven against USC in 2010. Junior outfielder

Washington State jumped out to an early lead with a run in the first inning as
Andres Alvarez and
Ryan Ramsower both drew walks and a Harrer sacrifice fly later in the inning scored Alvarez from third for a 1-0 advantage.

Pacific evened things with a two-out solo home run in the first inning and added three runs in the third inning with five hits in the frame. The Tigers pushed another run across in the fourth for a 5-1 lead.

WSU came back with the long ball in the fifth inning as Harrer hammered a 1-0 pitch deep to left for a game-tying grand slam. One batter later, Hancock gave the Cougars a 6-5 lead with a solo homer to centerfield, his fourth of the season, sharing the team-lead with Harrer.

The Tigers answered with four runs in their half of the fifth, using four hits including a three-run home run to retake a 9-5 lead. Pacific then answered a Cougar run in the seventh with three more runs for a 12-7 advantage.

Harrer drove in his sixth run of the afternoon with his third hit, a two-out double to right field in the eighth inning. Pacific added two more in the eighth to seal up the 14-8 victory.
