Men's Golf to Close out Fall Season at Hawaii

THIS WEEK: The Washington State University men's golf team will compete at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, at Maui, Hawaii, Friday through Sunday, Nov. 6-8, to conclude the fall season.
THE TOURNAMENT: One round will be played each of the three days starting at 10:30 a.m. PT…the three-day event will take place at the Royal Ka'anapali Course, a par-71, 6,700-yard track…designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1962, the Royal Ka'anapali Course has played hosts to golf stars such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Fred Couples.
THE FIELD: Joining Washington State and host-school Hawaii in the 18-team field will be Ball State, Bowling Green, Cal State Northridge, Georgia, Gonzaga, Indiana, Kansas, Liberty, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, NC State, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma, Sacramento State, South Carolina, and UC Santa Barbara.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougar men will be sophomore Derek Bayley, senior Evan Omelia, sophomore Zach Anderson, and freshmen Aaron Whalen and Grant Cole.
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: WSU finished 15th (+52, 916) in a talented field led by No. 1 Illinois (+1, 865) at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 18-20…Pac-12 competitors Arizona State (+5, 869) and California (+14, 878) finished second and third, respectively…Bayley tied for 37th with a total score of 225 (+9)…freshman AJ Armstrong finished five strokes back of Bayley and tied for 57th (+14, 230).
COACHING STAFF: The men's golf team is led by fifth-year head coach Garrett Clegg…assisting Clegg is WSU alumnus Dustin White, a third-year assistant coach who golfed for the Cougars from 1999-2003…new to the coaching staff this year is volunteer assistant coach David Nuhn, who golfed for Idaho from 2008-2010.
