When Pat Beach decided on a college, he didn’t have far to go. Beach arrived at Washington State following a stellar prep career at Pullman High School, where he was a two-time all-league tight end and middle linebacker, as well as being a prep All-American. The transition to WSU was minimal, as he started at tight end as a sophomore, where he would stay for the next three seasons. Over that span he caught 63 passes, a record for tight ends, for 936 yards and five touchdowns. He was a two-time All-Pacific-10 Conference performer and as a senior was named a first-team All-American by The Sporting News and second team by the Newspaper Enterprise Association. As co-captain during the 1981 season, he helped the Cougars to their first bowl appearance in 50 years as WSU faced BYU in the Holiday Bowl. Beach capped his collegiate career by playing in the East-West Shrine Game and the Olympia Gold Bowl.  Beach was selected with the first pick in the sixth round by the Baltimore Colts in the 1982 NFL Draft. He spent 12 years in the NFL, 10 with the Colts, one with the Philadelphia Eagles and one with the Phoenix Cardinals. He totaled 160 games, 163 receptions, 1,558 yards and 14 touchdowns in his NFL career.
