A true Washingtonian, cornerback Marcus Trufant played his entire high school and collegiate football careers in the state, as well as the majority of his professional football career. A native of Tacoma, Wash., Trufant began his four-year stint with the Cougars in 1999 as he led the team with 13 pass deflections as a freshman. He was named All-Pacific-10 Conference Honorable Mention both his sophomore and junior years. As a senior, Trufant earned first-team first-team All-America and Pac-10 accolades. At WSU, Trufant tallied 201 tackles and 11 interceptions, tied for ninth-most in school history, as he also helped lead WSU to the 2001 Sun Bowl and 2003 Rose Bowl. He was a first-round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, taken No. 11 overall by the Seattle Seahawks where he played his entire 11-year career (2003-12), totaling 644 tackles, 112 pass breakups, 21 interceptions, two career interception returns for touchdowns. Trufant earned All-Pro honors and a trip to the Pro Bowl in 2007 after finishing third in the NFL with seven interceptions. Following a brief summer stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013, Trufant signed a one-day contract with the Seahawks, April 23, 2014, so that he could end his professional career the same way it started, as a Seahawk, as well as his football career the way it started, in Washington.
