Biography

SENIOR (2017-18) – Played 15 of the Cougars’ 31 games…tied then-career-high with 3 points in WSU’s opening game against Texas Southern (Nov. 12)…scored again at Washington (Jan. 28) with 3 points…at Oregon State (Feb. 8) had a then-career-high 8 points in 14 minutes on 3-for-6 from 3-point range…his 2 3-pointers marked a career-high…scored in two of the next three games and had only assist of career against Utah (Feb. 17) along with 6 points…in final game of the regular season, had a career-high 10 points, leading WSU in scoring for the first time in his career, while tying his career-high with 2 3-pointers.  

JUNIOR (2016-17) – Played in nine games for the Cougars…averaged 3.2 minutes, 0.3 rebounds and 0.6 points per game…played a career-high 13 minutes against Utah (Jan. 18)…scored a career-high 3 points in his first game at Kansas State (Dec. 10) on his first-career made 3-pointer…tied a career-high 1 rebound three times, at Kansas State (Dec. 10), at Stanford (Jan. 12) and at home the last being against Utah (Jan. 18).

PRIOR TO WSU – Played two seasons at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, Wash…was team captain as a SOPHOMORE, averaging 9.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.6 points per game…led the team in 3-point field goal percentage with a .410 clip (33-for-81)…averaged 4.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game as a FRESHMAN at SVC in 2014-15.

HIGH SCHOOL – Earned three letters in basketball at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle under head coach Chris Weakley…as a SENIOR served as team captain while averaging 17.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds, ranking 10th in the 3A Metro League in scoring…was team’s leading scorer while the Raiders advanced to the district playoff…had a season-high 28 points against top-ranked Rainier Beach…was all-league honorable mention.

PERSONAL – Born Steven Leon Shpreyregin, May of 1996, at Seattle…a native of Belarusia, his father, Gennadiy Shpreyregin, was a six-time ping pong junior champion…mother Marina…has one older brother, Alex…hobbies include hiking, video games, swimming and listening to music…interested in pursuing a degree in sport marketing at Washington State.
