SENIOR (2018-19) - Played 19 of WSU’s 32 games, notching three starts…averaged 1.1 points and 1.0 rebounds per game, while adding 5 blocked shots…assisted on a career-high 2 shots, Dec. 17 against Rider…scored a season-high 7 points and tied his career high with 5 rebounds against Santa Clara in Spokane (Dec. 29)…the following game, played a season-high 17 minutes at Washington (Jan. 5).
JUNIOR (2017-2018) – Played games for the Cougars including 2 starts…scored first career points in WSU’s win over Idaho State (Nov. 18)…scored first Pac-12 points at USC (Dec. 31)…saw more minutes as season progressed, scoring in four-consecutive games with 4 points against Arizona (Jan. 31), 2 points at Oregon State (Feb. 8), seven points and a career-high 5 rebounds at Oregon (Feb. 11) and a career-high eight points in WSU’s win over Colorado (Feb. 15).
PRIOR TO WSU – Spent one year at Tyler Junior College in Texas, after one year at Bradley…as a SOPHOMORE, played in 29 games for Tyler JC, averaging 4.3 points and 5.9 rebounds, as the team went 24-5, falling in the quarterfinals of the Region XIV Tournament…as a FRESHMAN at Bradley (2015-16), played in 26 games, averaging 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds, while shooting .429 from the field…scored a career-high 6 points against Southern Illinois (Jan. 6) and grabbed a career-high 5 rebounds against New Orleans (Nov. 25).
HIGH SCHOOL – Attended Orangewood Academy in Garden Grove, Calif., where he played both volleyball and basketball...as a senior in 2013-14, averaged 18.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game and was awarded the 2014 Express League MVP by the Orange County Athletic Directors Association…earned first team all-conference selection…following high school, spent the 2014-15 school year at West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Fla.
PERSONAL – Born Davante Cooper, December of 1994 at Atlanta, Ga….father Donnie Cooper and mother Vernee Smith…has one brother, Demario Riley and a sister, Donqesha Smith…cousin Reggie Slaton played basketball at Western Texas JC…enjoys laughing, eating, watching movies, reading poetry and listening to Adele…majoring in humanities at WSU.
