RS-JUNIOR (2019): Appeared in all 13 games, seven as a starter…went 152-of-257 for 2,158 yards and 16 touchdowns…led SEC with 14.2 yards-per-completion…came off bench to lead Tennessee to wins against Mississippi State, South Carolina, UAB and Kentucky…threw for 415 yards against Missouri…threw two touchdowns in comeback win at Kentucky…threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns in win over South Carolina…passed for 142 yards and career-high three touchdowns in win against Chattanooga…threw two touchdown passes against BYU…passed for 311 yards and two touchdowns against Georgia State…threw for 222 yards and a win over Indiana at the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl…earned bachelor’s degree in psychology in December…recipient of Phillip Fulmer Award for Excellence Scholarship.
 
RS-SOPHOMORE (2018): Started all 12 games…went 153-of-246 for 1,907 yards and 12 touchdowns with just three interceptions…set school record with 166 pass attempts without an interception…went 19-of-25 for 172 yards with oen touchdown against West Virginia…threw for 143 yards and two passing touchdowns at No. 2 Georgia…earned several National Player of the Week honors and was SEC Offensive Player of the Week after going 21-of-32 for 328 yards and two touchdowns in win at No. 21 Auburn…went 27-of-39 for 207 yards and two touchdowns at South Carolina…threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns in win over No. 11 Kentucky…threw for 139 yards and one touchdown at Vanderbilt.
 
RS-FRESHMAN (2017): Appeared in nine games, six as a starter…went 82-of-139 for 997 yards and four touchdowns…threw for 242 yards at Kentucky…went 9-of-13 for 102 yards and rushed for a score in win over Southern Miss…had 239 passing yards and oen touchdowns pass against LSU…threw two touchdowns in season-finale against Vanderbilt.

Attended Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J.…threw for 3,028 yards with 28 touchdowns and rushed for 523 yards and 12 touchdowns in high school career…named to All-County First Team as a senior…rated a four-star prospect, the nation’s third-best dual-threat quarterback by Rivals.com…rated the nation’s fourth-best dual-threat quarterback by ESPN.com and 247Sports.com…named a 2016 Under Armour All-American.

Pronounced “gar-an-TAN-o”…parents, James and Karen…sister, Victoria…dad, James was a star wide receiver at Rutgers (1989-92), setting Rutgers record for career receptions and was later named to the Rutgers Hall of Fame.
