Dean enters his third season as an assistant under Wayne Phipps and Laura Harmon. Dean joined the Washington State cross country/track and field program prior to the start of the 2023 season. Dean was a student-athlete for the WSU distance program from 2016-21 and will look to lead the men's cross country/distance track group that he was a part of during his competition days on the Palouse.
Dean oversaw Evans Kurui, who qualified for the NCAA XC National Championships and was an Outdoor Track and Field All-American.
As a student-athlete, Dean qualified for the 2019 NCAA West Region Championships after posting a 24:38.1 in the men's 8k at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships. Dean graduated from Mead High School in the Spokane, Wash., and left with a PR of 24:38.1 in the cross country 8k and a personal best of 31:34.7 in 10k's.
