WSU CAREER
FRESHMAN (2024): Competed in seven meets during his first collegiate season including the NCAA Championships… At the WSU Alumni Open (8/30/24), Kurui finished first in his first ever college race with a 6k time of 16 minutes and 56.8 seconds, setting the 6k course record… Another record was set at the Cougar Classic (9/13/24), in the 8k, beating the previous record by 20 seconds with a time of 22 minutes and 46.8 seconds… At the Notre Dame Invitational (10/4/24), Kurui ran his best 8k time of the season, 22 minutes and 24.7 seconds, finishing second… Kurui finished second for the second straight meet, this time at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals (10/19/24), with a time of 23 minutes and 37.4 seconds… At the WCC Cross Country Championships (11/2/24), Kurui won the 8k event with a time of 22 minutes and 52 seconds, his third race win of the season… At the West Regionals (11/15/24), he won the 10k race by 15 seconds, leading the entire race, and finishing with a time of 28 minutes and 53.7 seconds… Kurui qualified for the NCAA Championships in which he finished 36th overall with a time of 29 minutes and 23.8 seconds… Kurui was named the WCC Co-Runner of the Year and won WCC Runner of the Week three times.
