2015-16 Swimming Season Review

Michelle Berry Senior (2015-16) – Claimed the ninth-fastest time in school history in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.38 at the Pac-12 Championships…swam a time of 1:05.56 with a fourth place finish in the ‘B’ final in the 100 breaststroke at the Ohio State Invitational, a season-best…swam a season-best time of 1:56.61 in the 200 freestyle against Arizona State…also at the Pac-12 Championships, earned a season-best time of 4:28.98 in the 400 IM…named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Second Team with a 3.49 GPA in social sciences, in her first year of eligibility.

Anna Brolin Sophomore (2015-16) – At the Pac-12 Championships, swam the third-fastest time in WSU history in the 100 butterfly at 53.65…a member of the 200 medley relay team that broke the school record at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 1:39.13…also a member of the 400 medley relay team that had the season-best time of 3:40.47…earned a personal record in the 50 freestyle at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 23.49…also swam a personal record in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall at 51.93…earned Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention honors with a 3.00 GPA.

Hannah Bruggman Sophomore (2015-16) – Broke three personal records and placed in the WSU Top-10 List three times at the Pac-12 Championships…in the 50 yard freestyle, finished 12th with a time of 22.68, the second-fastest time in school history…swam the second-best time in WSU history in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.78, finishing first in the ‘C’ final…earned the fifth-fastest time in school history in the 100 back stroke touching the wall at 54.96…earned two wins during the season, against Seattle in the 100 backstroke, and facing Nebraska in the 50 backstroke…anchor for the 200 medley relay team that broke the school record at the Pac-12 Championships, touching the wall at 1:39.13…also a member of three other relay teams that clocked season-best times…the 400 medley relay swam a season best time of 3:40.47…the 200 freestyle relay finished with the season best time of 1:31.34…finally, the 400 freestyle relay team swam the best time of the season at 3:21.05.

Addisynn Bursch Junior (2015-16) – Broke two individual school records during the Pac-12 Championships…in the 200 IM, clocked a time of 1:59.87 an NCAA ‘B’ standard time…broke her second school record in the 400 IM finishing in 12th place with a time of 4:15.51…also at the Pac-12 Championships, clocked the seventh-fastest time in WSU history in the 200 breaststroke at 2:16.73…in the 100 freestyle, holds the eighth-best time in school history with a time of 50.67, which she earned at the Ohio State Invitational…against the University of Nebraska, broke the Gibb Pool record in the 200 IM at 2:02.62…also holds the tenth-fastest time in school history in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.16...a member of the 800 freestyle relay team that broke the school record at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 7:18.03…finished the season with eleven individual wins, tying for the second-most wins on the team.

Emma Elhoff Junior (2015-16) – Clocked the tenth-fastest time in school history in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:55.52 at the Ohio State Invitational…earned a personal record of 1:53.65 in the 200 freestyle during the preliminaries at the Pac-12 Championships…swam a season-best time of 10:28.30 in the 1000 freestyle with a fourth place finish against San Diego State and the University of New Mexico…claimed another season-best time in the 1650 freestyle at the OSU Invite with a time of 17:07.38, about two seconds away from her personal record.

Kendra Griffin Junior (2015-16) – Clocked the second-best time in WSU history in the 1650 freestyle at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 16:30.76…also at the Pac-12 Championships, finished with the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 200 butterfly at 2:00.12, and the fourth-best time in school history in the 500 freestyle at 4:51.01…clocked a personal record in the 100 butterfly at 55.96...finished with a season-best time in the 1000 freestyle against Arizona State University at 10:15.15.

Frederikke Hall Senior (2015-16) – At the Pac-12 Championships, finished with the second-best time in school history in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.94…also clocked her best time and the fourth-fastest time in WSU history at the Pac-12 Championships in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:14.47…captured a win in the 100 breaststroke against Nebraska with a time of 1:04.76…a member of the 200 medley relay team that broke the WSU record at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 1:39.13…also a member of the 400 medley relay team that had the season best time of 3:40.47...clocked a season-best time in the 50 freestyle in the prelims of the Pac-12 Championships at 24.14…earned Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Honorable Mentions honors for the second year in a row with a 3.36 GPA in sport science.

Hailey Johnson Junior (2015-16) – Swam a personal record of 23.44 in the 50 freestyle during the preliminaries at the Pac-12 Championships…in the 100 freestyle, also earned a personal record of 51.41 in the 100 freestyle during the preliminaries at the Pac-12 Championships…earned a season-best time of 58.68 in the 100 butterfly at the Ohio State Invitational, four-tenths of a second away from her personal best…a member of the 400 freestyle relay team and 200 freestyle relay team that both set season-best times, the 400 at 3:21.05, and the 200 at 1:31.34…named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic First Team for the second year with a GPA of 3.83 and as a member of the WSU Honors College.

Ciera Kelly Freshman (2015-16) – Swam a season-best time of 23.66 in the 50 freestyle during the preliminaries at the Pac-12 Championships…in the 100 freestyle, swam a season-best time of 51.42 at the Ohio State Invitational…also during the preliminaries at the Pac-12 Championships, clocked a personal record time of 56.45 in the 100 backstroke, missing the finals by two places…at the OSU invite, finished first in the ‘C’ final in the 100 butterfly, with a personal-best time of 56.19.

Linnea Lindberg Freshman (2015-16) – Earned first collegiate win in the 50 breaststroke against the University of California with a time of 30.19…at the Ohio State Invitational, swam a personal-best time of 1:03.13 in the 100 breaststroke, the fifth-best time in school history…placed 21st (fifth in the ‘C’ final) in the 100 breaststroke at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 1:03.34…additionally at the OSU Invite, finished second in the ‘B’ final of the 200 breaststroke with a personal best time of 2:18.46.

Elise Locke Junior (2015-16) – At the Pac-12 Championships, earned the second-fastest time in school history when she finished twelfth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:38.51…at the Ohio State Invitational, finished with the eighth-best time in WSU history in the 100 butterfly at 54.81…a member of the 800 freestyle relay team that broke the school record at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 7:18.03…earned a season-best time in the 200 freestyle touching the wall at 1:52.37…also had a season-best time in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:57.29…finished the season with a total of seven individual wins…received Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention honors with a 3.45 GPA in strategic communication.

Haley Rose Love Junior (2015-16) At the Ohio State Invitational, finished with a time of 50.35 in the 100 freestyle, the fifth-fastest time in WSU history…earned the ninth-best time in school history in the 100 backstroke when she touched the wall at 56.04 at the Pac-12 Championships…earned a season-best time in the 50 freestyle at the Pac-12 Champions with a time of 23.28, two-tenths of a second away from her personal best…swam a season best in the 100 butterfly at the OSU Invite, with a time of 54.96, less than a tenth of a second away from a personal best…a member of the 200 medley relay team that broke the school record at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 1:39.13.

Jasmine Margetts Freshman (2015-16) – Finished the season with a team high of 14 individual wins…at the Pac-12 Championships earned three spots on the WSU Top-10 list…in the 200 butterfly, finished with a time of 1:58.64, the third-fastest time in school history…finished in the third spot in school history again in the 400 IM, touching the wall at 4:16.49…earned the third-fastest time in WSU history once again in the 200 backstroke, at 1:57.91, the only Cougar to earn a spot on the 200 backstroke list during the 2015-16 season…against Oregon State University, swam the seventh-fastest time in WSU history in the 100 backstroke, finishing at 55.89…during the Ohio State Invitational earned the third spot on the WSU Top-10 List in the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.56…anchor of the 800 freestyle relay team that broke the WSU record at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 7:18.03.

Jessica Marston Redshirt-Freshman (2015-16) – Swam the third-fastest time in school history in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:50.83 during the Ohio State Invitational…at the Pac-12 Championships, touched the wall at 4:53.40 in the 500 freestyle, earning the seventh-best time in WSU history…in the 200 freestyle, swam a personal best time of 1:51.80 at the OSU Invite…earned a season-best time in the 1000 freestyle against Arizona State with a fifth place finish at 10:27.87.

Penny Nichols Freshman (2015-16) – Swam a season-best time of 24.00 in the 50 freestyle during the preliminaries at the Pac-12 Championships…earned a season-best time of 53.51 in the 100 freestyle against Oregon State University…in the 200 freestyle, had a season-best time of 1:57.46…at the Ohio State Invitational, clocked a time of 56.30 in the 100 butterfly, her best of the season.

Loree Olson Senior (2015-16) – At the Pac-12 Championships earned the sixth-fastest time in WSU history in the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.53…won a race against Seattle University in the 200 back, with a time of 2:02.96…earned a season-best time in the 200 back at the Pac-12 Championships touching the wall at 1:57.87…also at the Pac-12 Championships, finished with a time of 54.82 in the 100 backstroke, a tenth of a second from her personal record and the second-best time in school history…on the 400 medley relay team that earned the season-best time of 3:40.47…received Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Second Team honors with a 3.61 GPA in sport science after earning honorable mention the previous season.

Anna Rosen Redshirt-Sophomore (2015-16) – Swam a personal record of 23.50 in the 50 freestyle during the preliminaries of the Pac-12 Championships…in the 100 freestyle, swam a personal-best of 51.62 with a fourth-place finish in the ‘C’ final at the Ohio State Invitational…earned Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention honors for the second year in a row with a 3.45 GPA.

Taylor Shewchuk Freshman (2015-16) – Earned a season-best in the 100 breaststroke at the Ohio State Invitational, touching the wall at 1:06.21…in the 200 breaststroke, clocked a season-best time of 2:22.36, also at the Ohio State Invitational…participated in the 200 IM, clocking her best time of the season at 2:13.03 during the preliminaries of the Pac-12 Championships…also participated in the 400 IM with a season-best time of 4:47.29 against the University of California.

Rachel Thompson Sophomore (2015-16) – At the Pac-12 Championships, earned the fifth-fastest time in WSU history in the 500 freestyle at 4:52.39...swam a personal-best in the 100 freestyle during the Ohio State Invitational, with a time of 51.58…in the 200 freestyle, earned a season-best time of 1:49.39 during the preliminaries of the Pac-12 Championships, less than a second away from her personal best…at 1:49.00, had the fastest split time on the 800 freestyle relay team that beat the WSU record at the Pac-12 Championships with an overall time of 7:18.03…earned Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention honors with a 3.12 GPA.

Presley Wetterstrom Senior (2015-16) – Finished with 11 individual wins tying for the second-most wins on the team…broke the school record at the Ohio State Invitational in the 200 breaststroke at 2:11.24…also at the OSU Invite, finished with the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 100 breaststroke at 1:02.40, an NCAA ‘B’ Standard Time…at the Pac-12 Championships, finished with the seventh-best time in school history in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:02.56…earned a season-best in the 400 IM at 4:28.18…named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic First Team for the third year in a row with a 3.98 GPA in management and operations, this tied for the second-highest GPA on the list.

Talisa Wibmer Sophomore (2015-16) – Swam a personal record time of 24.09 in the 50 freestyle during the preliminaries at the Pac-12 Championships…earned a season-best time in the 100 freestyle against Seattle University touching the wall at 54.63…in the 200 backstroke, earned a personal-best time of 2:01.93, missing the finals at the Pac-12 Championships by only one place.
