Attended Wilson High, where he was coached by Don Clegg...earned varsity letters in football (3), baseball (2) and basketball (1)...JUNIOR year a starter in football, earning All-Narrows League second team honors...as a SENIOR did not allow a sack...All-State pick by both the Seattle PI and the Newberry Prep Report and an All-West honoree by Prep Star...selected to play in the State All-Star game...All-Narrows League first team pick after blocking performance graded out at 90%...all-academic first team.

RS-FRESHMAN (1999-00):  Games - 4…Started - 0…Played in three games, a pair of mid-season contests and the finale at Hawaii.
RS-SOPHOMORE (2000-01):  V-letter… Games - 11…Started - 11…played and started all 11 games…an Iron Man player, he took every snap at center other than on punt, PAT and field goal attempts…earned the following two weekly team awards: Stanford/Most Disciplined Offense, USC/Offensive Lineman.
RS-JUNIOR (2001-02): V-letter…Games - 12…Starts - 10…missed two starts, Boise State and ASU, because of injuries, but played in both contests…earned the following weekly team awards: MSU/Offensive Lineman; Oregon/Offensive Lineman.
