Player Bio: Kevin Wray :: Women's Volleyball  

Kevin Wray brings experience and enthusiasm to the Washington State volleyball program as an assistant coach after a successful coaching career at the club level.

Wray graduated from Huntington Beach High in 1994 where he spent four years as an outside hitter for the Oilers boy's volleyball team. Wray finished his high school career with back to back CIF Div. I Southern California titles. In addition, he also played with the Kokoro Club volleyball team.

Continuing his playing career at Golden West Community College in Huntington Beach, Calif., Wray was a setter on the 1995 and 1997 men's volleyball squads, redshirting the 1996 season. During his stay at Golden West, the Rustlers won three consecutive community college state championships.

His coaching career began at the club level as head coach for the Asics Nova Volleyball Club in Long Beach, Calif. From 1999-2003 he coached for the Golden West Girls Volleyball Club in Huntington Beach, leading teams to gold medals in the Junior National Olympics in 2001 and 2003. Wray has also coached at summer camps in California and Texas.

Wray moved on to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he served as a volunteer assistant coach and student manager for the women's volleyball program. Assisting with training, scouting, and game day set up, he helped lead the team to NCAA Division I tournament bids in 1999 and 2000. Wray was a setter/outside hitter on the Baylor men's volleyball club team which finished the 1999 season ranked eighth overall in the collegiate club national rankings. Wray received his bachelors degree in education from Baylor in 2000.

After his graduation from Baylor, Wray spent a year in California as the head junior varsity coach and a varsity assistant for the boy's and girl's volleyball squads at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif. Wray helped lead the Monarchs girl's varsity team to the first CIF Championship in the 52 year existence of the school's volleyball program. He returned to Baylor in the fall of 2001 to continue his duties with the women's volleyball program and teach physical education classes.

A member of the California Beach Volleyball Association, Wray achieved semi professional status from 1999-2003.
