Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season in Spokane

COUGARS OPEN OUTDOOR SEASON IN SPOKANE
The Washington State men's and women's track and field teams begin the 2013 outdoor season of competition at the Spokane Community College Dusty Lane Open meet, Saturday, March 16, at Spokane Falls CC track...35 Cougar men and 25 WSU women will compete this Saturday...for the high hurdlers, intermediate hurdlers, steeplechasers, as well as the javelin, discus and hammer throwers, this marks their first chance at competing this year...racing events begin at 9:30 a.m. and field events begin at 10 a.m. with the final racing event scheduled for 3:45 p.m...results will be posted at www.wsucougars.com when available after the meet's conclusion.
INDOOR SEASON IN THE BOOKS
Members of the Washington State track and field teams had noteable performances during the indoor season...of the 42 eligible women, 47 lifetime-bests were achieved in 2013, and of the 51 eligible men, 56 career PRs were posted...the men's team finished fourth (out of 12 teams) in the MPSF Championships with 70 points, the best finish since 2009, and the women's team took seventh place (out of 15 teams) with 34 points, nearly three times the points scored the previous year...for more indoor season info, see p. 3-5.
