Bats Catch Fire in 17-0 Series-Clinching Win Over Fresno State

PULLMAN, Wash. (May 2, 2026) – Washington State used 17 hits to score a season-high 17 runs in a series-clinching 17-0 victory in front of 1,254 fans at Bailey-Brayton Field Saturday evening.

The Cougars (25-21, 13-7 Mountain West) clinch their fifth straight weekend series win for the first time since 1999.

Ten Cougars collected hits led by Cam Macleod's three hits including a double, homer and six RBI. Ollie Obenour added three hits, drove in three and scored three runs while Ryan Skjonsby scored three times, Matt Priest had three hits and three runs scored while Max Hartman homered. Kyler Northrop added two hits to extend his hitting streak to 15 games and Gavin Roy added two hits to extend his on-base streak to 33 games, the seventh-longest on-base streak in WSU history.

WSU starter Griffin Smith fired six scoreless innings, striking out five and allowed just three hits before Erik Rodriguez worked a scoreless seventh to seal the run-rule win.

Fresno State dropped to 12-31-1 overall and 1-15-1 in conference play.
