Cougars Look to Continue Momentum at ITA Northwest Regionals

Pullman, Wash. (Oct. 7, 2026) – The Cougar tennis team heads to Stanford, Calif. for the ITA D-I Northwest Regionals Championship Oct. 8-13. This will be WSU Tennis’ first ITA event this season. Stanford is hosting the tournament at Arrillaga Tennis Center Taube Pavilion which opened in April of 2026.

Last time on the court, Wazzu participated in the Duck Invitational hosted by Oregon, Oct. 2-4. The Cougars finished 3-3 in doubles and 9-4 in singles against Oregon, Portland, and Gonzaga. Yura Nakagawa and Gabriella Harper finished their doubles play 2-1, beating their Portland and Gonzaga opponents. Harper, Clara Schön, Nakagawa, and Chisato Kanemaki all finished singles play 2-1.

In addition to Washington State and hosting Stanford, schools competing in the singles and doubles draws at ITA regionals include California, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon, Pacific, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, Saint Mary’s, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle, UC Davis, and Washington.

The two singles finalists and the doubles champion from each of the 13 regions will qualify for the corresponding NCAA individual championship.

Schön (WSU) vs. Marron Baruqui (ORE)

 

12:00 p.m. Singles

Kanemaki (WSU) vs. Cooks (PSU)

1:00 p.m. Singles

Nakagawa vs. Qualifier Four (TBD)
