CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Washington State men’s golf team sits in fourth place after the opening two rounds of the Oregon State Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Club.
The Cougars opened the tournament with a 4-under 280 before following with a 5-under 279 in Monday’s second round. WSU enters Tuesday’s final round at 9-under, 559, just two strokes behind tournament leader Eastern Washington and one stroke behind Oregon and Oregon State.
Garrett Harrison leads the Cougars through 36 holes, sitting tied for sixth at 5-under, 137. Harrison opened with a 1-under 70 before firing a 4-under 67 in the second round.
Dylan Boenning is tied for 18th at 1-under, 141, following rounds of 69 and 72. Dylan Burcham and Ben Borgida are each tied for 31st at 1-over, 143. Burcham carded rounds of 69 and 74, while Borgida bounced back from an opening-round 73 with a 2-under 69 in round two.
Jake Goyen rounds out the Cougar lineup tied for 45th at 3-over, 145, after rounds of 72 and 73.
Competing as an individual, Finn McCall turned in one of the strongest performances in the field Monday. McCall sits tied for second at 7-under, 135, just one stroke behind Oregon State’s Davis Hartwell for the individual lead. McCall opened with a 2-under 69 before firing a 5-under 66 in the second round. Oregon State confirmed Hartwell held the 36-hole lead at 8-under, with McCall and Oregon’s Von Gordon one shot back. The Cougars returned to Trysting Tree Tuesday morning for the third and final round of the Oregon State Invitational. The 54-hole event is being played on the par-71 course in Corvallis. University of Oregon Athletics
