PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State soccer team played its second conference game in four days, defeating Fresno State at Lower Soccer Field, 4-0, Sunday afternoon to improve to 2-0 in Pac-12 play. The Cougars scored a pair of goals each half, including two first-half goals in the first 20 minutes.

The first goal of the game came early again for the Cougs. Just four minutes into the match Ashlyn Sandow took a corner and Carolan one-timed it at the back post for 1-0. The goal was Carolan’s second for Washington State coming just four days after her first against Oregon State.

Not long after the first goal, freshman Delaney Hawkins kept the pressure up, picked the pocket of Fresno’s defense, and slotted it into the back of the net in the 16th minute. Hawkins delivered her team-best fifth goal of the season, third in the Pac-12 through two games.

The Cougars returned from halftime with a similar energy continuing their goal-scoring in the 53rd minute. Hawkins crossed the ball into the box from the left side of the field. It bounces around before Emma Widmor headed it down to Lexi Lee. The Texas senior took the shot on the turn and put it into the bottom right corner for 3-0. Widmor picked up her fourth assist of the season.

Just before the end of the match the Cougs scored one more goal in the 87th minute. Brisendine collected the ball on the right side of the box, cut it inside, and curled her shot into the top left corner, sealing the 4-0 win over Fresno State.

Dvorak had five saves, and the backline added one save for six saves in the match as WSU's defense earned its fourth clean sheet. This is the second clean sheet at home and third of the season for Dvorak.
