PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State Soccer was back at Lower Soccer Field Thursday evening, October 22, against San Diego State University for a 1-1 draw. Senior Lexi Lee scored for the Cougars from the penalty spot before the Aztecs equalized.
The scoreless first half was back and forth, with Washington State taking seven shots and San Diego State tallying nine shots with just two on target.
The Cougs scored the game’s first goal in the second half in the 56th minute. The Aztecs were called for an errant handball in the box from a Delaney Hawkins’ shot. After video review, Lexi Lee stepped up for the Cougs and calmly slotted it into the bottom right corner.
Washington State continued to hound the San Diego State goal with 10 second-half shots. SDSU earned a late penalty from a foul by Ashlyn Dvorak on Lily Boudet. After video review, Victoria Miller took the penalty kick. Dvorak guessed correctly, but it slipped under her in the 85th minute, tying the match 1-1.
Dvorak had six saves on the night. She now has four consecutive games with 5+ saves. Reagan Brisendine and Delaney Hawkins each had a season high of five shots.
Washington State plays Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. in the final home game of the season.
