PULLMAN, Wash. - The Cougar swim team opened the season against Seattle U on Saturday morning, October 10, with a 219-43 win, sweeping every event at Gibb Pool. 

 

The Cougs kicked off the meet in the 400 medley relay, with Jade Castro, Kodi Wiman, Barbora Mileisyte, and Dacry Revitt winning with a 3:47.28. Humphreys, Els, Hill, Winser earned second and Palicka, Carrington, Parrish, and Lardow placed third.  

 

Thirteen new Cougs swam their first races in Crimson and Gray. This included freshman Ffion Humphreys, who won the 100-meter backstroke in 57:60. Freshman Audrey Hill won her first race in the 200 fly in 2:05.28. Transfer senior Kodi Wiman added two wins in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.14) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.52). Two more freshmen got their first wins: Marlee Winser in the 200 free with 1:53.03 and Ivy Lardow in the 100 fly with 56.79.  

 

Avery Bulkey took the 1000 free with a 10:28.83; Hannah Huarte and Vivien Nett placed second and third. In the 400 IM, school record holder Ariel Wang won again with 4:28.72, with Janning following in second. Palicka notched her first win since 2024 in the 200 backstroke with 2:04.58. All-American Darcy Revitt won the 100 IM with 57.42. Yalcin won the 100 fly with 57.52. 

 

Barbora Mileistye won two events, the 100 free and the 50 free, with a time of 22.91, tying the 10th-fastest time in WSU history in the 50 free. She ended the meet in the 200 free relay with Addy Lewis, Issabelle Parrish and Marlee Winser for 1:37.32 and the win. 

 

The Cougs are on the road for the next meet, racing Air Force and Denver in Colorado Springs, Colo., Friday, October 16 at 4 p.m. PT.
