Helm Earns Preseason All-WCC Honors, WSU Picked Fourth

SAN RAMON, Calif. (January 29, 2026) – Washington State Women's Golf freshman Kaitlyn Helm was named to the Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team in a vote by the conference's coaches, the WCC announced Thursday.
 
Helm was one of three freshman named to the 10-member preseason team. The Phoenix native led the Cougars with three Top-15 finishes including a pair of Top-8 finishes in the fall. Helm was atop the leaderboard for most of the Badger Invitational before tying for third highlighted by an opening-round 66, tying the WSU single-round record by a freshman and tied for the second-lowest round by all players in program history. Helm tied for No. 13 at The Blessings Collegiate in Arkansas and closed the fall tying for eighth at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Hawaii highlighted by an opening-round 68.
 
The Cougars were also picked to finish fourth in the eight-team league this season. Pepperdine was picked to finish first, followed by Oregon State and Santa Clara before the Cougars. Gonzaga and Seattle U tied for fifth with San Francisco seventh and Augusta eighth.
 
WSU opens its spring schedule February 9-11 with the Mountain Classic Matchplay in Palm Desert, Calif. at The Classic Club.
