Zevi Eckhaus to Receive Dolph Schayes Award

GREAT NECK, N.Y.  - Zevi Eckhaus, Washington State redshirt-senior quarterback, will be the recipient of the 2026 Dolph Schayes Outstanding Performance by a Jewish Athlete Award. The award will be presented to Zevi at the February 1, 2026, "Only the Football was Trayf, Jews in Football Panel Discussion."
 
Eckhaus went 26-for-44 for 334 yards and three touchdown passes and also rushed 14 times for 34 yards against Utah State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl win this year. He was named to the Wuerffel Trophy List (premier award for community service). On the season, Zevi appeared in 14 games, 11 as a starter, and he went 230-of-357 for 2,518 yards and 19 touchdowns and he rushed for 399 yards and 9 touchdowns. He finished his college career with 11,031 passing yards and 94 touchdown passes and also rushed for 1,161 yards and 14 touchdowns.
 
"We are very excited and honored to be presenting the Dolph Schayes Award to Zevi," said Alan Freedman, Director of the Jewish Sports Heritage Association. "He's an amazing example of athletic accomplishment in a sports not often associated with the Jewish people. He shows the public that Jewish people can achieve in sports today, and that this is not just a thing of the past."
