Track Begins Successful Weekend at McCluskey Memorial Open

Moscow, Idaho – Five Cougs finished on the podium in the first day at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open. Evans Kurui won the Men's 3000-meter race as he earns his first victory of the track season. Lindsay Siebert finished second in the Women's 1000-meter race, her first collegiate attempt at the race. 

Lindsay Siebert started the afternoon off with a personal best 1k time of 2 minutes and 57.91 seconds. Her time was only half a second behind the first-place finisher. Nicole Yanasak also impressed this afternoon with a third-place finish and a time of 3 minutes and 0.46 seconds.

In the Men's 3000-meter race, 14 runners raced for the Cougars, also taking all three podiums places. Evans Kurui won the race with a time of 8 mintues and 22.42 second, three second better than teammate Josphat Meli who finished in second. Kutoven Stevens rounded out the podium with a time of 8 minutes and 26.25 seconds. In his debut race in the crimson and gray, Muhammed Ahmed finished in eighth with a time of 8 minutes and 31.15 seconds.

Jessica Duran finished in fourth in the Women's 3000-meter race with a personal best time of 10 minutes and 17.92 seconds.

The Cougs will continue at the McCluskey Memorial Open tomorrow, starting at 10 am PT.
