MORAGA, Calif. – The Washington State men's basketball team (8-10, 3-2) lost to the Saint Mary's Gaels, 82-88, Saturday afternoon at UCU Pavilion in Moraga. After trailing by as many 18 points, the Cougars pulled within two possessions on multiple occasions in the second half, cutting the deficit to three points with just over seven minutes to play.
The Cougars were led by freshman
Ace Glass with 24 points, his sixth-consecutive game in double figures and a conference-game high. Glass benefitted from a career-high nine assists from junior
Jerone Morton. The junior added three rebounds and tallied a block.
ND Okafor finished with 14 points and a team-best seven rebounds. Glass added a career-high six rebounds.
Eemeli Yalaho rounded out the Cougs' double digit scorers with 12 points. Despite the Cougars shooting over 54% from the floor, the Gaels made 14 three-pointers and delivered a 50-point first-half.
The Cougars return to Pullman to host the nationally-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs, Thursday, January 15 at Beasley Coliseum. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. with coverage on CBS Sports Network.
