Pullman, Wash. (Sept. 9, 2026) – The Washington State Women’s Tennis team begins its season in the Cougar Classic, Sept. 11-13 in Pullman, Wash.
The Cougars have four returners Yura Nakagawa, Chisato Kanemaki, Zali Morris, and Ava-Monet Sycamore.
WSU Tennis also has three new additions joining the team this season.
Clara Schön was ranked seventh in the German U18 national rankings…won multiple national-level junior tournaments… Saxony State champion in 2022 through 2024… finished third place in the German U18 National Championships Winter 2024… nominated for “Young Athlete of the Year” in Saxony.
Kat Gonzalez also joins the WSU Tennis team this year, her highest UTSA ranking was second in Texas and 15th nationally…was a doubles titles Champions for J60 and J30…and earned the Bronze Ball at Easter Bowl for Doubles.
Gabi Harper is one of the newest additions to the team, she won the Battle of Boca twice…highest ranking was 16 in Florida… won a tennis tournament in the Republic of Georgia…earned her black belt in Kung-Fu at the age of 9 and won over 100 events…and went to AAU volleyball nationals twice.
The WSU Tennis team moves on to Boise State after the Cougar Classic and will spend the rest of the fall season on the road. They'll move around the west coast during the beginning of the season. Tennis will head out to Georgia for the ITA Masters and NCAA Individuals Nov. 17-22 to end the season.
