CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Washington State men’s golf team opened its 2026-27 season at the Whirlwind Golf Club in the Bombs Darts Birder Collegiate, Monday, September 7. Three Cougars finished under par through 36 holes. The WSU team sits in 12th place and 12-under par (564) with one round remaining.
Returning junior Dylan Burcham led the Cougars with an opening round 68, shooting 4-under par, and finished the day tied for 20th and 6-under par (138). Burcham birdied three-straight holes to finish the back nine and finished with eight birdies through two rounds.
Dylan Boenning, a returning sophomore and 2026 NCAA qualifier, sits one stroke back from Burcham at 5-under (139) and tied for 29th place The Arizona native led the Cougars with 10 birdies on the day, including seven in the opening 18 holes.
Redshirt-senior Ben Borgida rebounded from a slow first round 1-over par to deliver a 69 (-3) in the second round and 2-under for the day. The highlight of Borgida’s day came on the 12th hole in the second round. Approaching the 611-yard hole, the senior returner drove in an eagle, part of a string of 17-consecutive holes at or under par.
Junior returner Garrett Harrison finished 1-over with an even 72 in the second round. Harrison found consistency on the back-nine in the first round and the front-nine in the second round and is tied at 68th on the leaderboard. Canadian sophomore Christian Flick finished three over par and is tied for 75th alongside senior Ben Mulder, playing as an independent.
