The match seemed to be a stalemate, with both teams even on possession, shots, and momentum, but Angel City finally scored in the 88th minute with a top-of-the-box shot from Niehues into the top right corner, stealing all three points from the Spirit.

On Saturday evening, the Ascent hosted Sporting Jax in a top-of-the-table first-place vs. second-place clash. Tappan started the match and played the full 90 minutes. Sporting Jax scored early in the 20th minute, but Shea Groom equalized for the Ascent just before halftime. The Ascent struck again in the 61st minute from Aguilera to take a 2-1 lead. But Sporting Jax fired in two more goals in the 71st minute and a penalty in the 78th, giving them a 3-2 lead. But in the 83rd minute, Reece Tappan tapped in a goal from a set-piece cross, making it 3-3 and recovering a point. The Ascent are still on top of the league, five points clear of second.
