CORVALLIS, Ore. (September 26, 2026) — Washington State women's volleyball lost to Oregon State 3-2 Saturday at Gill Coliseum. WSU pushed the match to a fifth set and had 20 kills in the final set, but Oregon State took the decider 29-27.
The Cougars hit .277 compared with Oregon State’s .275 and committed fewer attack errors, 23 to 27, while Oregon State finished with more kills, 82 to 71, and more aces, 9 to 5. Wazzu also held a 71-68 edge in digs, and its six-point run in set 3 turned a three-point deficit into a lead before it converted set point later in that set.
Mary Healy led the Cougs with 19 kills and 20 points while adding eight digs.
Emerson Matthews finished with 16 kills, eight digs and two solo blocks.
Audrey Hollis recorded 31 assists, 16 digs, seven kills and a service ace.
Kambree Rodriguez collected a team-high 18 digs and added six assists.
After Oregon State scored the opening point, Healy's kill from Rodriguez evened the set, and WSU moved ahead 4-1 behind Whitney Dewicki's block and another Healy kill. Oregon State worked back within 10-9, but Kryssa Moerman answered with a kill and, after the teams traded points, the Cougars pushed the lead to 16-10 during Eliana Tia's service turn with kills from Naomi White, Dewicki, and Healy. Wazzu later built the margin to 22-16, but Oregon State scored four straight to cut it to 22-20. Matthews stopped the run with a kill and followed with a service ace for set point, and Dewicki closed the set with a kill for a 25-21 WSU win.
Moerman and Healy supplied early kills as the Cougs kept the second set tight, tying it at 6-6 and 7-7 before an Oregon State attack error put Wazzu ahead 8-7. Oregon State moved in front from there, turning a 10-9 WSU edge into a 16-11 lead. WSU cut the gap to 17-15, but Oregon State answered with six straight points to reach 23-15 and finished the set 25-18.
WSU trailed 14-11 in the third set before scoring six straight points, helping turn the deficit into a 17-14 lead. The Cougars later pushed ahead 21-16, but Oregon State answered with four straight points to close within 21-20. Oregon State tied the set at 23-23 and moved ahead 25-24, but White’s kill evened it at 25-25. Matthews followed with consecutive kills to finish Wazzu’s 27-25 set win.
A Dewicki kill gave WSU the first point in the fourth set, but Oregon State used kills and Cougar errors to move in front 9-4. Wazzu answered with four straight points and later tied the set 11-11. From there, the set moved through ties at 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, before Oregon State took an 18-16 lead. A Moerman block and a Healy kill brought WSU back within 20-19, but Oregon State scored five of the final six points to close the set 25-20.
The Cougars moved in front 3-1 after a kill by Hollis and two Oregon State errors, then stayed ahead at 8-6 on kills by Healy and White. Oregon State tied it again at 8-8 and 9-9, but Wazzu moved back ahead with kills from Healy, Matthews, and Hollis before Oregon State drew even at 13-13. From there, the teams traded points through 24-24, with Oregon State reaching set point at 24-23 and WSU answering before Matthews delivered consecutive kills to tie the set at 25-25 and put the Cougs up 26-25. After Oregon State tied it at 26-26, a service error gave Wazzu a 27-26 lead, but Oregon State closed with a kill, a block, and a WSU attack error to take the set 29-27.
