PULLMAN, Wash. (September 21, 2026) – Washington State women’s cross-country runner Jaylyn Lehner and men’s cross-country Eric Swedin were each named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for August 2026.
Lehner, a senior, owns a 3.99 GPA while majoring in civil engineering. Last season, the Camas, Wash. native placed first in the women’s 500-meter run at the Payton Jordan Invitational, beating her opponents by over seven seconds. This season, Lehner placed seventh is the 2026 WSU Cougar Classic XC Extravaganza last week with a time of 17:27.1, helping lead WSU in the women’s 5K.
Swedin, a senior, owns a 3.42 GPA while double majoring in biology and neuroscience, and minoring in mathematics. The Selah, Wash. native placed sixth during the 2026 WSU Cougar Classic XC Extravaganza to start the season. Last spring, Swedin placed ninth in the 2026 MPSF Indoor TF Championships, first during the UW Preview and sixth in the UW invite. The senior is also preparing for vet school after graduation.
