Pullman, Wash. (Sept. 12, 2026) – The Washington State tennis team concluded its second day of the Cougar Classic against Montana, Portland, and Idaho, at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts, Saturday.
The Cougars began the day with doubles with two wins over Portland. Senior Yura Nakagawa and freshman Gabriella Harper won their match 6-3 against Portland. Sophomore Ava-Monet Sycamore and freshman Clara Schön won their match against the Pilots, 6-2.
The Cougs returned to the courts in the afternoon for singles play against Montana. Harper took down her Montana opponent in a 6-1, 6-0 win. Kanemaki, Nakagawa, and Schön took down their Montana opponents in a quick fashion. Sycamore battled it out in a three-set match against Montana, falling short after winning the second set.
Play continues Sunday at the Cougar Classic with the final day to be held at the Indoor Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse. WSU’s play begins at noon with singles action.
