PULLMAN, Wash. (May 12, 2026) – Washington State rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning and put the tying run on third in the ninth inning but a nice defensive play by Seattle U preserved a 12-11 Redhawk win at Bailey-Brayton Field Tuesday evening.

The Cougars (27-25) received two homers and four RBI from Dustin Robinson along with a three-run home run from Max Hartman in his final home game at Bailey-Brayton Field. Senior Ryan Skjonsby tallied three hits while Trevor Smith, Gavin Roy and Kyler Northrop each recorded two hits.

Roy extended his on-base streak to 39 games, passing Jason Freeman for the third-longest on-base streak in program history, trailing on Kyle Manzardo's record of 43 (2019-21) and Brady Everett's 42 (2005). Northrop extended his on-base streak to 33 games, the eighth-longest in WSU history.

Seattle U (18-28) built a 10-2 lead after five innings, scoring in four of the first five innings highlighted by a six-run second. WSU tied the game with an eight-run sixth inning highlighted by a pair of three-run home-runs from Robinson and Hartman before the Redhawks hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
Seattle U used a pair of hits to plate a run in the first inning and built a big lead with six runs on three hits, three walks and a hit-by-pitch in the second inning. The Redhawks pushed their lead to 10-1 after two runs in the fifth.

Robinson hit an opposite-field solo homer in the fourth and Smith doubled home Northrip in the fifth.

In the sixth, Max Hartman worked a walk and Matt Priest punched a single the other way to right field before Robinson launched an opposite-field three-run homer to left field to cut the Seattle U game to 10-5. Smith later drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to right field and Roy followed with an RBI-single to right field before Hartman launched a game-tying three-run shot to right field.

In the eighth, Seattle U took advantage of a Cougar miscue as leadoff hitter struck out but reached on a throwing error and the next hitter lofted the go-ahead two-run home run to left field for a 12-10 lead.

In the Cougar ninth, Robinson and Skjonsby each drew walks to start the inning and both were bunted up a piece by Dane Chavez. Alexandre Giguere brought home a run with an RBI-groundout to cut the lead to one. With the tying run on third, Smith muscled a ball into shallow centerfield that the Seattle U shortstop ran down and collided with second baseman but held on for the final out.
