COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 30, 2026) – Washington State outfielder Matt Priest earned his second straight Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday.
In four games last week, Priest hit .563 (9-16) with two homers, one double, 10 RBI, four runs scored and stole one base. The redshirt-freshman from San Diego hit safely in all four games, had three multiple-hit games including a pair of three-hit efforts.
Priest opened the week with three hits including a pair of home runs and five RBI at Gonzaga. In Friday's series-opening win over Nevada, Priest had three hits with one double, four RBI, two runs scored and a stole base and added two hits and an RBI Saturday.
Priest has appeared in 21 games with 17 starts and is hitting .323 with three doubles, one triple, three home runs, 19 RBI and 10 runs scored.
This is WSU's third player of the week award of the season after catcher Alexandre Giguère earned the same honor March 9 following the Texas State series and Priest earned the honor after collecting five hits with a triple, home run and four RBI in the series sweep over Grand Canyon.
