Cougs Start Strong at San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 28, 2026) – Washington State women's rowing got off to a strong start finishing fifth in their races to start the spring head racing schedule.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 28, 2026) – Washington State women's rowing got off to a strong start finishing fifth in their races to start the spring head racing schedule.

"It was great to start the season," said Head Coach Jane LaRiviere. "It was a good effort to get in the Grand Finals. Looking forward to tomorrow."

The Cougs opened the morning with their 1V8 shell placing fifth in the Champ Women's Collegiate 8+ in a time of 7:02.68. They finished right behind fourth-place UCLA (6:56.01), while No. 2 Texas placed first (6:31.33), No. 5 Washington second (6:35.69) and No. 10 California came in third (6:36.85).
 
WSU had a similar finish in the Women's Collegiate V 4+ with the team's 1V8 placing fifth in 8:20.28 behind UCLA's 7:48.29 fourth place finish. Texas (7:40.69), Washington (7:46.39) and California (7:52.02) finished 1-2-3 in the V 4+ run as well.
 
The day concluded for the Cougars finishing fifth in the Women's Collegiate 2V 8+ with 7:28.90 ahead of San Diego's 7:37.67, and behind Texas in first (6:57.31), Washington in second (7:00.57), California in third (7:04.62) and UCLA in fourth (7:18.74).

The Cougs are back out on the water tomorrow, Sunday, March 29 for finals racing beginning at 9:23 a.m.
